Importance of candle safety!

Candle safety is important for several reasons. First and foremost, candles are an open flame and can pose a fire hazard if not used correctly. According to the National Fire Protection Association, candle fires caused an average of 7,610 home fires each year between 2014 and 2018 in the United States alone, resulting in an average of 80 deaths, 770 injuries, and $278 million in property damage.

Additionally, candles can also cause burns if they are not handled or placed properly. This is especially true for children, who may not understand the dangers of playing with candles or getting too close to them.

There are several ways to practice candle safety, including:

  1. Always keep candles away from flammable materials, such as curtains, bedding, or paper.

  2. Use candle holders that are sturdy and can catch drips of wax.

  3. Place candles on a level, heat-resistant surface.

  4. Never leave a burning candle unattended.

  5. Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.

By following these basic safety tips, you can enjoy the warmth and ambiance of candles without putting yourself, your loved ones, or your property at risk.
